This study explores the relationship between diversity at the ownership level (gender and racial) and diversity at the coach level (racial), to draw insights on leadership composition and its handling of racial discrimination. This study looks at Tweets that were issued by selected US sport teams following the Black Lives Matters (BLM) protests that started after the killing of George Floyd. The results indicate that women involved in sports are more likely to respond to BLM than males. These results are statistically significant when controlling for the political leaning of the state and the individual leagues. Racial diversity of the owner, though, is not found to consistently matter.
